Industry leaders are worried about the government of Montenegro's announcement that it will prohibit online betting businesses from accepting specific payment methods. The plan has been met with opposition by the Montenegro Bet trade organization, which has characterized it as "unconstitutional." The proposed amendment to Montenegro's gaming law is detailed in Article 68f. It would outlaw gaming companies' mobile and internet banking use if it were to pass. Because of this, gamers would have little choice except to utilize cash at betting shops or use card terminals at specific betting venues to fund their accounts. To halt the modification, Montenegro Bet has launched a petition just as the deadline approaches. So far, 25,000 people—or around 8% of Montenegro's adult population—have signed the petition. According to the union, the gaming business could have to lay off many people because of the prohibition. The Gaming Sector in MontenegroAccording to racebook pay per head services experts, Montenegro Bet has stated that the proposal is unlawful and violates the regulations of the European Union; they have also opposed it and warned of the potential effects on the local economy. Montenegro has contemplated joining the alliance for some time but is not yet a member state. Article 68f appears to run counter to European law and Montenegro's legislation, which mandates public consultation on such significant changes. A representative of Montenegro Bet, Jovana Klisić, was interviewed extensively by European Gaming, a news site that covers the gaming sector, about the subject. Klisić identified the issues with Article 68f and cautioned about possible negative consequences, drawing on his extensive background in both gaming and business.
