During the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada's sportsbooks recorded a new high for wagering. After the Kansas City Chiefs' 25-22 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers, bookmakers in Nevada reportedly pulled in more than $185.6 million in wagers. The previous high was $179.8 million, established in 2022, a rise of around 21% from last year's amount. According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, revenues at the 182 sportsbooks in Nevada reached $6.8 million, an increase from $4.3 million in 2023. However, this fell well short of the record-setting $18.7 million established in 2020 by the Chiefs in their corresponding victory over the 49ers. New Record for Super Bowl BettingAccording to casino pay per head experts, the Super Bowl brought in $141.6 million for New Jersey's bookmakers, a 30% rise from the previous year. Revenue for sportsbooks dropped to $8.5 million in 2024 from $12.8 million the last year. The event brought in $71.5 million for Pennsylvania's bookmakers, a 15% decrease from the previous year. During the first Super Bowl, online sportsbooks in Maine took in around $3.5 million in wagers that allowed legal sports betting. One of the most popular proposition bets on the Super Bowl was centered around Taylor Swift, who is romantically involved with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
